Document Description

Jail of Adams County. Was committed to the jail of Adams county, on the 24th instant [Oct.], as a runaway, a negro fellow by the name of JOE—who says that he belongs to HIRAM RUNNELS, of Lawrence county, in this state, and that he was purchased at Natchez, last spring, from WALTER B. MILES: his is 5 feet 8 inches high, says he is about 27 years of age, has straight hair; is clothed in a coarse linen shirt and pantaloons; no other marks notable. The owner of the above boy is requested to comply with the law and take him away. R. H. MAY, Jailor. Natchez.
