Document Description

Runaway from the subscriber, a negro man named JOHN, who calls himself SAM, about twenty-seven years of age, five feet seven inches high, has a scar on his breast, occasioned by a burn, well built, and a likely appearance, but, when spoken to, he has a down cast look; common black complexion; had on when he absconded, a blue surtout cloth coat, white linen pantaloons, and also a variety of other clothing, with a violin which he is fond of playing. He attempts to speak the French language. It is probable he will make his way to Lexington, Kentucky,—He is a smart active shrewd fellow. The above reward will be paid to any person who will apprehend and deljver [sic] said negro so I get him again. JOHN TARBE The editors of the Nashville Whig, Lexington Reporter, and Louisville Public Advertiser will insert the above three times, and forward their accounts to this office. Natchez.
