Document Description

Was committed to the Jail of Adams county, by Henry Tooley, Esq. on the 4th January instant, as a runaway, by the name of JEFFERSON, of light complexion—says he belongs to JOHN TATE, of ― county [sic] Mississippi. Jefferson is about 17 or 18 years of age, 4 feet 7 or 8 inches high—he has on a cotton shirt, white linen pantaloons and wool hat—his left eye is out, his front teeth is [sic] very wide apart. The owner of the above negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of Jail. R. H. MAY, Jailor. Natchez.
