Document Description

Was committed to the jail of Lawrence County, on the 3d inst a negro man by the name of ALFRED, who says he belongs to a gentleman by the name of HUFFMAN, living in Yazoo County, near the Court house—he is between 20 and [torn] years of age, five feet eight or ten inches high, black complexion, had on a good fur hat, but otherwise very badly clothed.—The owner of the above negro is requested to comply with the requisites of the law, and take him out of jail.
