Document Description

Runaway In Jail. Was committed to the Jail of Adams county, by Samuel Postlethwaite, Esq. on the 9th Dec. 1829, a negro man, who says he belongs to JOHN SMITH, of New Orleans, and calls himself PATRICK—about 28 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, of dark complexion; had on when committed coarse linen shirt and linsey pantaloons, very much worn; his front teeth are sound and very much colored by the use of tobacco. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of Jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailor.
