Document Description

Runaway In Jail. Was committed to the jail of Adams county, by H. Tooley, esquire, on the 2d day of May, 1830, a negro boy who calls himself JESS, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, of very dark complexion: said negro has a remarkable broad face; had on when committed, a pair of linen pantaloons, very much worn, a thick long woolen kersey roundabout, an old wool hat, a good pair of coarse shoes; said negro says he belongs to JOHN DAVIS, of Warren county, near Vicksburg. The owner of said negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailor. Natchez.
