Document Description

Runaway In Jail. Was committed to the Jail of Adams county on the 18th day of September 1830, by James Carson, Esq. a negro man who calls himself SAM, and says he belongs to WILLIAM PEEPLES on the coast. Said negro is about 24 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, of rather dark complexion; had on when committed, some fragments of clothing not describable. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of Jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailor.
