Document Description

Runaways In Jail. Was committed to the Jail of Adams county, by S. Postlethwaite, Esq. on the 1st day of November, 1830, a negro man calling himself JACK and says he belongs to HENRY CLAIG on Lafouche [sic]—said negro is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 6 1-2 or 7 inches high, of quite dark complexion, sound white teeth, his hair turning gray; had on when committed a shappo [sic], old linen shirt and pantaloons, no other mark discovered of any note. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of jail, W. W. CALMES, Jailor. Natchez.
