Document Description

Was committed to the Jail of Adams county, on the 1st day of November, 1830, by Samuel Postlethwaite, Esq. a mulatto man who calls himself JOHN RAMSEY, and says he belongs to the steam boat Feliciana—he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 1-2 or 7 inches high; had on when committed, an old fur hat, blue cotton roundabout, corded pantaloons and check shirt; and had large black whiskers. The owner of the above described negro, is requested to comply with the law and take him out o [sic] jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailor.
