Document Description

Was committed to the Jail of Adams county, by H. Tooley Esq. on the 9th day of Jan. 1831, a negro man, nam’d [sic] JOHN, 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 1-2 inches high, or rather light complexion, sound teeth, and a thick coat of hair; says he belongs to mr. DUHART of the vicinity of New Orleans—said negro had on when committed, an old white fur hat, linen pantaloons, white flannel shirt, common brogan shoes, and an old velvet roundabout of blue colour. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailor. Natchez.
