Document Description

Runaway In Jail. Was committed to the Jail of Adams county, by H. Tooley, Esq. on the 31st day of January, 1831, a negro man calling himself ZENO, of dark complexion, about 33 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, has a healthy appearance; with one of his fore teeth decayed, speaks the French language principally, with some broken English; had on when committed, a Shappo, yellow linsey Pantaloons, cotton Shirt, old Shoes, and a Handkerchief around his head, and says he belongs to DE ARMAS of N. Orleans. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of Jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailor.
