Document Description

Runaway in Jail. Was committed to the jail of Adams county, by F. Wood, Esq. on the 15th day of February, 1831, a negro boy of moderate dark complexion, who says his name is STEPHEN, and that he belongs to ELI ODOM of Jefferson county, Miss.—said boy is about 18 years of age, 5 feet one inch high, had on when committed, a white linsey roundabout, an old wool hat, good course [sic] shoes, and a pair of fine blue cloth pantaloons and cotton shirt. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of Jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailor.
