Document Description

Was committed to the Jail of Adams county, on the 5th day of March 1831, by S. Postlethwaite, Esq. a negro man calling himself DUKE, moderately dark, 5 feet 8 1-2 inches high, and about 32 years of age, and says he belongs to JOHN DICKS of New-Orleans; said negro is stout made but knocked kneed, had on an old mixed casinet pantaloons, red flannel shirt, good coarse shoes, and an old fur hat, he had rather an ill countenance, with blood-shot intermixed with the jaundice appearance.
