Document Description

Runaway In Jail. Was committed to the Jail of Adams county, by H. Tooley, Esq. on the 23d day of March, 1831, a negro boy calling himself NATHAN, who says he belongs to PARKER ODUM of the Parish of Concordia, La.—he is about 33 years of age, 5 feet 4 1-2 or 5 inches high, of dark complexion, short white teeth, high cheek bones, yellowish eyes, and had on when committed, a shappo [sic], old fur hat, linen pantaloons and shirt, blue mixed vest, and a pair of old brogans. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailor.
