Document Description

Runaway In Jail. Was committed to the Jail of Adams county, by James Carson, Esq. on the 5th day of April, 1831, a negro boy calling himself GARNET, and says he belongs to Mr. WASHINGTON BURCH of Jefferson county, Mississippi, about 22 years of age, yellowish complexion, full face, very white teeth, 5 feet 6 inches high; had on an old blue frock broad cloth coat, two thirds worn, with cotton pants, cotton shirt, an old fur hat, and good coarse brogans. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of Jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailor.
