Document Description

Was committed to the jail of Adams county, on the 4th day of May, 1831, by H. Tooley, Esq., a negro boy calling himself ROBERT, about 19 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, very black, thin visage, small sunk eyes, large mouth—had on coarse linen pants and shirt, very much worn, and an old shappo [sic], very much worn; says he belongs to JOHN ROBINSON, near Port Gisbon. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailor.
