Document Description

Was committed to the Jail of Adams county, by H. Tooley Esq. on the 12th day of July, 1831, a negro man of very dark complexion, calling himself GEORGE, and says he belongs to Mr. WM. LEWIS of Woodville, Mi. Said negro is about 28 years of age, 5 feet 6 1-2 inches high, very straight in his person; has large white eyes, very sound white teeth, those in front are wide apart; had on good cotton pantaloons and linen shirt—no other marks discovered of any note. W. W. CALMES, Jailor.
