Document Description

Runaway in Jail, Was committed to the jail of Warren county, by Jas. Cornell J. P. a negro man who says his name is NEWMAN, about twenty years old, five feet five inches high, dark complection [sic]—had on when a committed a new linen roundabout, cotton shirt and pantaloons very much worn; the above negro says he belongs to Judge SMITH of Hinds county. The owner is requested to come forward, prove property, pay charges and take him away, or he will be sold—as the law directs. GADI GIBSON, Jailor.
