Document Description

Notice—Was committed to the jail of Franklin county, Mississippi, on the 12th instant, as a runaway, a negro man who calls himself SAM, and says he belongs to DANIEL WILSON, living a few miles from Baton Rouge, in Louisiana. He is a chunky well set fellow, about 5 feet 4 inches high, from appearance about 25 years of age—has a kind of trembling in his speech. Had on when committed, an old circassian coat, white cotton pantaloons, a checkered shirt, and an old fur hat, some marks of the lash. The owner of the above described negro is requested to come forward, prove property, pay charges, and take him out of jail. D. H. MCINTYPRE, Sheriff of Franklin county.
