Document Description

Sheriff’s Sales. State of Mississippi, vs. Sam a runaway slave. By virtue of the power vested in me by law as Sheriff of Adams County, I shall expose at public sale to the highest bidder, for ready money, at the door of the Court House of Adams county, on the third Monday in April next within the time prescribed by law, on said day a Negro boy named SAM, committed to the jail of said county as a runaway, and has not been claimed by any owner for six months for the day of his commitment, said negro sold for his prison and other fees.
