Document Description

Was committed to the jail of Adams county, on the 5th day of October, 1831, by H. Tooley, esq., a negro man calling himself AMOS, and says he belongs to RICHARD T. ARCHER of Wilkinson county, Mi. Said negro is 5 feet 6 inches high, and about 35 years of age. He is of moderately dark complexion, has a very flat nose—had on, when committed, mixed casinet pantaloons, cotton shirt, striped cotton vest, and twilled cotton roundabout. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailor.
