Document Description

Was committed to the jail of Adams county, on the 18th day of October, 1831, by H. Tooley, esq., a negro man calling himself WILLIAM, and says he belongs to JOSEPH MADISON of Copiah county, Mi. Said negro is 5 feet 3 inches high, and about 26 years of age. He is of quite dark complexion, square and heavily made. He had on, an old linen shirt and pantaloons, and a blue cloth vest. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailor.
