Document Description

State of Mississippi vs. William, a runaway slave. By virtue of the powers vested in me by law, I shall expose for sale at public auction, to the highest bidder for ready money, on the third Monday in May next, within the time prescribed by law, a negro man named WILLIAM, committed to jail of Adams county as a runaway slave, and has not been claimed by any owner for six months from the date of his commitment. Said negro sold for prison and other fees. H. GRIDLEY, Sheriff. Natchez.
