Document Description

Was committed to the jail of Adams county, on the 15th day of October, 1831, by Samuel Postlethwaite, esq. a negro man calling himself JAMES, and says he belongs to Mr. STROTHER, a negro trader. Said negro is 5 feet 9 inches high and about 28 years of age. He has a large upper lip, very dark complexion, sound front teeth, considerably marked with the lash. He had on, mixed linsey pantaloons, old linen shirt, and a cotton handkerchief around his head. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of jail. W.
