Document Description

Was committed to the jail of Adams county, on the 24th day of October, 1831, by F. Wood, esq., a negro man calling himself WILLIS, and says he belongs to JOHN HOOVER, of the parish of Concordia, La. Said negro is 5 feet 4 1-2 inches high, and about 25 years of age, very dark complexion, square and stoutly formed, has a tooth out above and below in front of his mouth; had on, an old blanket coat, old linsey pantaloons, a linen shirt, and a good blanket. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailor.
