Document Description

Was committed to the jail of Adams county, on the 18th November, 1831, by C. Griffin, esquire, a negro man who calls himself EDMUND, and says he belongs to JONATHAN PATTON, near New Orleans. Said negro is 5 feet 9 inches high, and about 25 years of age, of very dark complexion, has large thick lips, sound front teeth, has rather an ill countenance—had on, a linsey roundabout, coarse linen pantaloons and shirt, and a palmetto hat—no other marks of any note discovered. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law, and take him out of jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailor.
