Document Description

Runaway In Jail. Was committed to the Jail of Adams County, on the 4th of January, 1832, by James Carson Esq., a Negro man, calling himself JOHN, and says he belongs to JAMES CANE, of Franklin county, Mi.—Said Negro is five feet six inches high, and about twenty-five years of age; of very black complexion; rather slender made; has very singular fox-looking eyes;—had on cotton pantaloons of home manufacture: also, a blue striped pair of pantaloons, under the afore mentioned; also a good cotton shirt. The owner of the above described Negro is requested to comply with the law, and take him out of Jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailor. Natchez.
