Document Description

Runway in Jail. Was committed to the Jail of Warren county, by W. H. Benton, J. P. a negro man who calls himself GEORGE, and says he belongs to JONATHAN McCALEB, living on the Big Bayou Pierre. Said negro is five feet nine and three quarter inches high, about twenty-five years of age, has a scar over his right eye, occasioned by the kick of a horse—had on when committed a white wollen [sic] round jacket, old valentia vest, domestic shirt, a pair of blue casinet pantaloons much worn, a pair of old Shoes and an old wool hat. The owner is requested to come forward, prove property, pay charges and take him away or he will be sold as the law directs. JAMES HALL, Jailer.
