Document Description

Runaway in Jail. Was committed to the jail of Warren county, May 6th 1832, by James Cornell, J. P. in and for said county, a negro man who calls himself LEWIS, and says he belongs to WILEY DAVIS, in Bunche’s Bend, La; said negro is six feet and three quarter inches high, stout built, about twenty seven or eight years of age, the nail on the fore finger of his right hand has been split open, had on when committed a blue mixed round jacket, blue mixed pantaloons, domestic shirt, strong brogan shoes, and an old palm leaf hat. The owner of said negro is requested to come forward, prove property, pay charges, and take him away, or he will be dealt with as the law directs. JAS. HALL, Jailer. Vicksburg.
