Document Description

Runaway in Jail. Was committed to the Jail of Warren county, on the 20th of May 1832, by James Cornell, J. P. in and for said county—a negro man who calls himself JERRY, and says he belongs to Doctor McPHETERS of Adams county, Mississippi. Said negro is about twenty-seven years of age, five feet nine inches high, of yellow complexion, has a scar on his right ear, had on when committed a brown frock coat, striped vest, domestic shirt, blue cloth pantaloons, strong brogan shoes and an old fur hat. The owner of said negro is requested to come forward prove property, pay charges and take him out of Jail or he will dealt with as the law directs. JAMES HALL, Jailor.
