Document Description

Runaway in Jail. Was committed to the Jail of Warren county, on the 1st day of June, 1832, by James Cornell, Esq. J. P. in and for said county, a negro man who calls himself JOHN, and says he belongs to M. BERNARD on Bayou Sarah. Said negro is six feet one inch high, of dark complexion, about 27 years of age, has a scar on his left wrist from a burn, and one on his right leg. Had on when committed, a domestic shirt, blue linsey pantaloons, and an old drab hat, and strong brogan shoes. The owner of said negro is requested to come forward, prove property, pay charges and take him out of Jail, or he will be dealt with as the law directs. JAMES HALL, Jailer. Vicksburg.
