Document Description

Was committed to the Jail of Adams county on the 10th September 1832, by C. Griffin, Esq. a negro boy of very dark complexion who calls himself GILBERT, and says he belongs to DAVID HAWKS, of Jefferson county, Mi. He is about twenty years of age, five feet four and a half inches high, has rather a slim face, sprightly appearance, large lips and long-combed hair, had on a white cotton shirt, dark cloth pantaloons, blue cloth dress coat, and good brogan shoes and an old wool hat, together with a large bundle of inferior clothes. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailor.
