Document Description

Runaway in Jail. Committed to the jail of Warren county, 18th October, 1832, by James Cornell, Justice of the Peace in and for said county, a negro man who calls himself PETER, and says he belongs to ARCHIBALD ESTES, Bachelor’s Bend, Miss. Said negro is five feet six and a half inches high, about twenty years of age, complexion a medium between that of a negro and a mulatto; had on when committed corduroy pantaloons, domestic shirt and an old wool hat. The owner of said negro is requested to come forward, prove property, pay charges, and take him out of jail, or he will be sold as the law directs. JAMES HALL, Jailer.
