Document Description

Runaway in Jail. Was committed to the jail of Warren county, on the 6th October, 1832, by James Cornell, Justice of the Peace in and for said county, a yellow woman who calls herself JANE, and says she belongs to WILLIAM SHELBY or ROBERT COX, of Clinton, Hinds county, Miss. Said woman is about forty years of age, stout built, five feet two inches high, has long straight hair, has a scar on her left cheek about two inches in length, and several small scars on her right cheek; had on when committed a red and while calico dress. The owner of said negro is requested to come forward, prove property, pay charges and take her away, or she will be sold as the law directs. JAMES HALL, Jailer.
