Document Description

Runaway in Jail. Was committed to the Jail of Warren county, on the 10th Nov. 1832, by James Cornell, J. P. in and for said county, a Negro man who calls his name NED, and says he belongs to SAMUEL MARLEY of Yazoo county Miss. Said negro is five feet seven and a quarter inches high, of dark complexion, stout built, has a down look, about twenty-six years of age, has a small wen on the back of his left wrist, and the fingers on each hand are somewhat drawn by a burn when young, had on when committed a corduroy round jacket, linen pantaloons, and an old fur hat, also an iron round his left ancle [sic], about two inches broad. The owner of said negro is requested to come forward prove property pay charges and take him out of Jail, or he will be dealt with as the law directs. JAMES HALL, Jailer. Vicksburg.
