Document Description

Was committed to the jail of Adams county as a runaway, by C. Griffin, Esq. on the 23d day of January 1833, a negro man calling himself JESSE, and says he belongs to Col. THOMAS OSWELL, of Wilkinson county, Miss. He is 5 feet 4 inches high, and about 30 years of age, of rather light complexion and thin visage. Had on good mixed linsey roundabout and pantaloons; also, cotton shirt and good shoes. Said negro was apprehended in company with a negro girl, who says she belongs to the same person. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of jail. W. W. CALMES, jailor.
