Document Description

Was committed to the jail of Adams county, as a runaway, by C. Griffin, Esq. on the 23d day of January, 1833, a negro girl, calling her name RHODY. Says she belongs to Col. THOMAS OSWELL, of Wilkinson county, Mississ [sic]. She is about 16 years of age, very stout built, very dark complexion; had on a head handkerchief, and a mixed linsey dress, very little worn. She was apprehended in company with a negro boy calling himself Jesse, and says they belong to the same person. The owner of the above described negress is requested to comply with the law, and take her out of jail. W. W. CALMES, jailor.
