Document Description

Was committed to the jail of Adams County as a runaway by Wm. B. Melvin Esq. on the 7th May 1833; a negro boy calling himself TOM, and says he belongs to Mr. SOLOMON MOFFIT, a negro trader who is now at Port-Gibson, of this State; he is 5 feet 3 3-4 inches high, and about 21 years of age, of rather light complexion, long projecting features; has a scar on his right temple; also one on his right ear; has been considerably marked with the lash on his hips; he had on when committed yellow linsey pantaloons, and vest, good brogans, and an old palmetto hat. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of Jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailer. Natchez.
