Document Description

Was committed to the jail of Adams County, as a runaway by Wm. B. Melvin, Esq. on the 3d, [sic] May 1833, a negro boy, calling himself FUSBY, and says he belongs to Mr BATIES of New Orleans; he is 5 feet 8 1-2 inches high, well made, of very dark complexion; had on brown linsey pantaloons, check shirt, and blue woolen cap, and good brogans, good countenance: he is about 21 years of age. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailer. Natchez.
