Document Description

Was committed to the Jail of Adams County on the 25th day of May 1833, by George Newman Esq. as a runaway, a negro boy calling his name PAUL, and says he belongs to STEPHEN LEWIS, of Warren County, Miss. he is 5 feet 10 inches high, about 21 years old of yellowish complexion, had on cottonade pantaloons, cotton shirt old fur hat, together with sundry articles of clothing tied up in a bundle; said negro was apprehended in company with a white man who calls his name Wells, who is also in my custody. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of Jail. W. W. CALMES, Jailor. N atche, [sic].
