Document Description

Was committed to the jail of Franklin county as a runaway, on the 2d day of July, 1833, by D. A. Shell, Esq., a negro man calling himself JOHN, and says he belongs to JOHN DUGAN, near Baton Rouge, La. He is about 5 feet 5 inches high, and about 20 years of age, of yellow complexion, had on when committed, snuff colored woolen pantaloons, cotton shirt, no hat, and says he has been absent from his master near two months. The owner of the above described negro is requested to comply with the law and take him out of jail. THOS. MEREDITH, Shff.
