Document Description

Was Committed to the Jail of Adams County as a run-away, on the first day of this month; a Negro Woman [WOMAN], who says she belongs to to [sic] various masters, among whom she mentions THOMAS and FRANCIS SURGET. She is about five feet six inches high 24 years of age very black, is very much cramped in both her hands, occasioned, as she says, by a burn. She has a large bar of iron round her neck. The owner is requested to come forward and take her away agreeably to law. JONATHAN POWELL, J.A.C.
