Document Description

Notice Was committed to the Jail of Perry county, Miss. on the 24th of August 1832 [sic], by James Carpenter, Esq, a negro man, who calls himself LEWIS, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, about 40 years old; had on when committed, cotton shirt and pantaloons, a scar over each eye on his forehead, [sic] He says he belongs to WM. STOVALL, Marion county, Miss. The owner of said negro will comply with the law and take him away. A. E. DENHAM, Shff. of Perry co. Augusta, Miss.
