Living In It

Shanti Weiland

Abstract

In this work of poems, I experiment with different forms (pantoums, prose poems, villanelles, dramatic monologues, free verse, and sestinas) to create a diverse landscape of my speakers' lives. I also use many of my poems as responses to other poets and/or artists; many poems are "after" another poet's work or a loose translation or new manipulation of a previous poem or song. Living In It serves as a panel of viewpoints on family, love, and frustration.
