Abstract
The following poems explore themes of fidelity, affection, and frailty through narratives about family, as well as historical and fictional characters. The poems locate similarities between their subjects’ experiences and the often harsh environments they occur within, primarily the American South. This collection examines these figures through literal retellings, surreal interpretations, and mythic parallels.
