Abstract
My short stories attempt to show that sexual violence affects everyone, and that we are not simply isolated by personal experiences, but instead altered and empowered by them. Ultimately, I dissect a paradox of pain, that it seems internal and destructive, but can in fact build bridges and unite our experiences in universal ways. Though each of my stories focuses on different aspects of women’s issues and identity, the intersection of person and pain characterizes my writing overall.
