Description

One of the first and most difficult obstacles for launching a new journal is to solicit enough articles of high enough quality to publish the first few issues. One of the services of traditional publishers is to help promote their journals and solicit articles for the journals they publish. Many library-led publishing efforts provide a publishing platform and other technical services to their institutions. However, there are many additional services provided by traditional publishers that are often not provided by library publishing programs. My presentation will provide IR administrators specific methods and strategies to help journal editors to effectively solicit articles for publication in fledgling journals. By adopting these strategies and services library publishing programs will increasingly be seen as viable and competitive alternatives to traditional publishers.
