Description
Paul Royster has been manager of his institution's IR since 2005. Sometimes he thinks he has seen it all—the ups and downs, the challenges and rewards, the hard work and the lucky breaks. He will address the history of his program and its strategies, the stages of progress, the measures of success, the opportunities, the obstacles, the potential allies, the emerging competitors, and the possible roads ahead. Mostly, he hopes to show why he believes that IRs hold the key to the liberation of scholarly content from its indenture to outside interests. Nebraska's IR has pursued a sometimes-unconventional path that has led to plentiful content, massive usage, and wide campus buy-in. Part practical advice, part philosophical musing, the keynote hopes to send everyone off with ideas and enthusiasm.
