Institutional Repository Day is an opportunity for IR managers to come together and learn about new ideas and strategies that their colleagues are using with their institution’s IR to meet the needs of their faculty, staff, and students. It is also a chance for institutions that do not currently have an IR to discover the benefits that an IR can offer in terms of promoting the scholarship and research of their university. The event consists of speakers, panel discussions, and workshops that will address topics ranging from the basics of IRs to new project ideas and workflows for longtime IR managers. The presentations also reflect a variety of different IR platforms, thus allowing attendees to compare the different options that are available to them.

IR Day is now known as the Southern Miss Institutional Repository Conference (SMIRC)! SMIRC 2017 will be held on April 12-13, 2017, and will feature Dr. Paul Royster (University of Nebraska-Lincoln) as the keynote speaker. Full details, including a link to the registration form, can be found at http://lib.usm.edu/smirc.
