Description

IRUS, created and managed by Jisc, an organization based in the UK that provides digital solutions for education and research, is a service In which a piece of code can be added to institutional or data repositories, enabling raw data to be transmitted and then processed into authoritative, standards-based, standards-based statistics supporting universities to gain a better understanding of the breakdown and usage of their institution's research, which they can share with key stakeholders.

Jisc has established a partnership with LYRASIS, a non-profit dedicated to supporting enduring access to shared academic, scientific and cultural heritage through leadership in open technologies, to build IRUS-US, a US based community of IRUS users. IRUS-US users will see their IR usage in a newly updated, open access user-interface (released in December 2020) with full functionality and COUNTER-5 conformance.

The goal of this lightning talk is to provide a quick and easy to understand introduction to IRUS-US. The session will include an overview of the user portal, statistics and download procedures, and will include exercises designed to help participants become comfortable using IRUS. LYRASIS will also provide a brief overview of how to implement the tracker within various types of institutional repository systems.
